Dog Rescue: The Final Conflagration - I'm Over It.

I have just taped the below notice to my neighbour's door. If you want to know the back-story, it is here: a voluntary dog ownership guide for the clueless.

Mark next door.

In the cloud burst on Thursday afternoon, I drove to your place and put your dog in her kennel because she was tied to tree 'drowning' – no shelter. She was terrified by lightning and thunder.

She remained in kennel from then, Thursday evening, until this morning, Saturday, 11.45am. She has been living in her own shit since that time: now three lots of shit in kennel. Back to old days. Nothing has changed.

She is now tied up on 2 metre chain to tree since ll.45am. Your whole household seems to be away, the poor thing has been barking incessantly, and, we are entertaining outside, driving all of us insane. I’ve been here, given her biscuits to see if that quietens her down. If she is not here when you get back, that will be because biscuits did not work and I’ve taken her over to our place.

We need to talk. We are entertaining Sat and Sunday, so let’s get together Monday. If you won’t let us find a home for your poor dog, what say Pauline and I take her … the last thing we want is another big dog, but that’s better than living like this. I will not live next to a dog living in the concentration camp of your back yard and that bloody kennel. We end this next week, finally, and I can’t at this juncture think what terms you can offer that will ever be acceptable outside the two I have mentioned here.
